A Dallas bar known for being an early craft cocktail player is opening in an epic space: Henry’s Majestic, which was previously located off McKinney Avenue until it sadly closed in 2022, is being revived in a space that has its own special mojo.

According to a release, Andrew Popp and his wife, Feliza Macias, of Bread Winners Café & Bakery fame, have taken over the former Chicken Scratch/The Foundry located in West Dallas at 2303 Pittman St., where they'll re-open Henry's Majestic in the fall.

Macias will serve as General Manager/Chef de cuisine, reviving the existing menu with new additions for brunch, lunch, dinner, and late night.

Formerly located at 4900 McKinney Ave. at Monticello, Henry's Majestic opened in October 2014 in a space that was generally regarded as cursed. Henry's went on to thrive in the space with its pioneering cocktail program and weekend brunch. The building also housed Atwater Alley, a Prohibition-style speakeasy that also drew raves. Both were forced to close in October 2022 when the landlord sold the building.

Alex Fletcher, who created the original bar program for Henry’s Majestic, is returning to revamp the bar’s offerings.

"I am attempting a zero-waste cocktail program with this new iteration, a sustainable wine list and a back bar that focuses on sustainable brands," Fletcher says in a statement. "There will be some of old house favorite cocktails’ on the list for some nostalgia but we will also make new playful modernized creative cocktails. There will be a zero-proof portion and possibly some ‘pup-tails’ on the menu."

The site comes with a sprawling dog-friendly outdoor space where customers can enjoy live music, although please don't bring your dogs to musical events since their hearing is more sensitive than humans.

They're installing a mister system and multiple fire pits.

Inside dining and bar service will be available in two different buildings on the premises. Future plans include a plan to partner with local vendors and retailers for pop-up events and a rotation of food trucks.

Popp's stepfather Jim Hughes and mother Cindy Hughes owned Bread Winners Holdings which included Bread Winners Café & Bakery, Henry’s Majestic, Atwater Alley, Trick Pony, and Harlowe MXM. In October 2022, the Hughes retired and sold Bread Winners Holdings with Popp retaining the Henry’s Majestic brand as his own.

"Our motto at Henry’s Majestic has always been ‘Good Food. Strong Drink' and customers can expect us to stay true to that mindset as we reopen our doors," Popp says.
